TNews interview: Portalegre hosts international HART congress on reusing heritage in tourism (in Portuguese)

On 28 and 29 May, Portalegre will host the international congress HART – Heritage Adaptive Reuse in Tourism, an innovative initiative that promises to bring together national and international experts to debate the adaptive reuse of heritage in the context of tourism. Organised by João Estêvão and Eva Milheiro, lecturers and researchers at the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre, the event aims to discuss the regeneration and enhancement of the city’s cultural and industrial heritage, while positioning Portalegre as a sustainable tourist destination.

In an interview with TNews, the two coordinators of the congress share the motivations behind the creation of the event, the choice of historic venues that will host the conferences and workshops, as well as their expectations regarding the impact that HART could have on the tourist future of the city and the Alto Alentejo region.
